Full Time (72 hours/pay period)NightsEvery third weekend nightshift rotationGeneral SummaryProvides respiratory therapy modalities to patients at an advanced skills level according to established standards and practices. Functions as the highest skilled clinician in one or more functional areas including, but not limited to, critical care, NICU, pulmonary function, general care, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, skilled nursing/home care and polysomnography. Acts as a resource for Clinical Respiratory Therapist I and II. May require specialized skills depending on unit assignments.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdministers respiratory therapy modalities as per the physician, clinical practice guidelines and/or clinical pathway. Charts treatment, response and progress.Performs patient assessment and develops a comprehensive pulmonary care plan.Collaborates with the physician to manage the initiation, maintenance and weaning of patients requiring ventilatory support.Modifies therapy to maximize efficacy of the therapy regimen.Maintains active and support communication with the patient regarding progress, problems, home programs and other issues related to the therapeutic process.Provides quality care consistent with appropriate policies and procedures, quality assessment program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.Assumes clinical leadership role for assigned core process area.Serves as a role model/mentor for other staff, new employees and students.
