Finance Director (FD) for Main Campus is responsible for
establishing the direction and providing leadership in financial
policy formulation. The FD is principally responsible for ensuring
that undergraduate and graduate programs, the departments,
administrative units, centers, and institutes operate within budget
on an annual basis and as projected over time. This position serves
as a strategic financial and administrative partner to the Main
Campus finance teams. This position primarily serves in the vacant
Finance positions across the university and is responsible for
ensuring that schools or units and their Senior Leaders get
financial support in a manner compliant with university policies
and procedures. Additional duties include, but are not limited
to:
- Direct and manage the comprehensive business affairs of the
programs, including management and analysis of departmental
budgets, information systems, human resources, training and
development, safety and security, and regulatory compliance.
- Work with the assigned various ad-hoc projects aimed at
increasing efficiency, process improvement, and developing best
practices to support optimal financial and operational performance
of the Main Campus.
- Manage and lead assigned unit financial operations, which may
include overseeing resource allocation to meet projections and
priorities, controlling expenditures, and account statements to
ensure compliance and fiscal integrity.
- Set the strategic financial direction and leadership of
financial and administrative performance, developing, planning, and
executing special projects while typically managing budgets of
approximately $50-100 million.
- Under special circumstances, serve in Finance roles for other
campuses on a limited term basis.Work InteractionsThe FD oversees
all planning and execution activities for the designated and
assigned units. Primarily focused on planning, the FD is the top
point of escalation on issues within the assigned School/unit
finance team. The FD is focused on planning and analysis, internal
controls, and approvals of critical day-to-day activities to ensure
congruence with budget and projections. The FD will work closely
and be assigned work with Provost office teams when not assigned to
a particular school or unit. The FD will be in situations where
they work with senior leaders of their units as well as for the
university and must have experience and comfort with advising
leadership. Additionally, the FD will work day to day with the
Office of the Chief Financial Officer, the Office of Research,
facilities management, and other operational units and should have
demonstrated experience navigating operational functions and
teams.Requirements And Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Business or Accounting preferred; A
Bachelor's degree plus substantial experience in closely related
fields may substitute for a Master's degree.
- Seven years of progressively responsible leadership and
supervision in finance and administration, preferably in higher
education.
- Building and utilizing financial models with business analytics
expertise.
- Proficiency with complex financial and longitudinal planning,
financial forecasting, and revenue and expenditure management.
- Expert level of proficiency in Excel.
- Prior experience managing budgets of at least $25 million,
using electronic financial management tools to track revenue and
expenses, generate reports, and perform financial analysis and
modeling.
- Demonstrated experience with complex strategic planning and
resource allocation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with a mastery of
Excel.
- Well-developed managerial, decision-making, planning,
organizational, analytical, problem-solving and leadership
skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex teams on a day-to-day
basis and inspire a high level of commitment and performance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with
adaptability, flexibility and attention to detail.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with unit leadership and departmental and program
staff, as well as with the Office of the Provost, Human Resources,
Financial Affairs, and other University offices and
departments.
- Ability to triage and solve complex challenges and
requests.
- Service oriented, professional demeanor and a team orientation
is required; i.e. avoiding "that's not my job."
- Ability to work well under pressure, in a high paced
environment, and have a sense of humor.
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize
work and multi-tasking to meet deadlines.
- Ability to think outside the box and to solve problems
creatively.
- Experience preferred in Workday, Adaptive, and Cognos.Preferred
Requirements And Qualifications
- Master's Degree or higher in Business or Finance.
- Professional Accounting qualifications desirable.Work Mode

projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which
represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:$80,429.00
- $157,238.93.Compensation is determined by a number of factors
including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual
qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications,
as well as the University's business needs and external
